Having high levels usually means some form of diabetes is present. The symptoms of diabetes are well known and can include symptoms such as damage to the kidneys, the eyes and problems with weight.
It is possible to take a blood sugar test. This will gauge the levels of sugar which are in the bloodstream. This is the more common method used to detect diabetes or hypoglycaemia.
